“And once you live a good story, you get a taste for a kind of meaning in life, and you can't go back to being normal; you can't go back to meaningless scenes stitched together by the forgettable thread of wasted time.”  -- Donald Miller, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years

Twelve months ago I stepped onto a plane with nothing but a suitcase, a camera in hand and my passion for storytelling. The other side of my flight led me to a tiny bedroom with a new mattress and a single towel. At the time it felt like one of the scariest decisions of my life. In reflection, I realized it was the most liberating thing I ever could have done. When I thought about the city of New York I would dream of the great adventures, fresh clients, and innovative endeavors I was going to experience. I would dream of abundance. A year later, I have to say this city hasn’t disappointed me yet.

One of my favorite scenes is stepping out onto the streets of Brooklyn to the M train and traveling over the Williamsburg Bridge into the city. Every time I get a glimpse of the Manhattan skyline, the sun shines through the rusted beams and it breathes life into me. I gain perspective and I remember how much I want to play on the grand stage of humanity. Recharged, I want to explore the stories of the people I pass on the street and create a story within myself that is just magnificent enough to make a mark on a city that’s larger than life.

I am grateful for what this city has taught me thus far and I — like many before me, can never go back to life before New York City.

For those of you who know me, you may have noticed things have a changed a bit on my site. Recently I have decided to transform into With my move I needed my digital presence to reflect my personal transformation and I am all the better for it. After seven years of business and one year of life in New York, it was time to make a change.  Starting first with the website and soon—new, exciting projects.

Our new name, Dugud Lab—a name that has been near and dear to my heart for many years—partners my love of doing good work with good people with my natural sense of experimentation. Recharged and ready to create something fresh I am ready to reinvent my business as I did within myself over a year ago.

When I made the decision to move, there were many obstacles and challenges that came with my decision. Even still, I welcome them because in the end they have made me a better creative and a stronger person. I would like to personally invite you to join me on this new journey…for there are many good things to come. Let’s DuGud!
