BE READY WITH DUO
Life Specialty Ventures’ Dynamic Video Shoot in Houston
When Langrand informed us about their partner, Life Specialty Ventures, needing a full-service video shoot in Houston, we knew we were in for an exciting project. What we didn’t anticipate was just how many unforgettable memories we would create along the way.
A Journey Through Houston
Our adventure began with the vibrant city of Houston as our canvas. Over several days, we immersed ourselves in the local culture, discovering unique locations that would serve as perfect backdrops for the video. From lively urban settings to serene green spaces, Houston provided a rich tapestry for our narrative. Our team managed every detail, ensuring a seamless production. We handled casting, selected locations, curated wardrobes and props, and executed both videography and post-production with precision. Each element was carefully chosen to reflect the playful and engaging spirit of DUO Integrated Supplemental Insurance.
Capturing the Essence
As we navigated through different scenes, it became clear that this project was about more than just shooting a video. It was about capturing moments that resonate with the audience, moments that highlight the importance of supplemental insurance in an engaging and accessible manner. The playful spots we created are a testament to this vision.
During the filming of "Ready" and "Surprise," we captured intimate and emotional storytelling. Angela's story of recovery and family support, along with Susan's postpartum experience, showcased love, resilience, and the comfort of having support during life's unexpected challenges.
While filming "Back on the Line" and "Extra Points," we were inspired by the determination of our main characters. Steve, recovering from a stroke, and Logan, bouncing back from an ACL injury, shared their stories with vulnerability and humor. Seeing Steve work in his home garage and capturing Logan's playful spirit on the basketball court emphasized the importance of reliable support, especially during tough times.
The production of "Win-Win" and "Unexpected" took us into the professional realm, where we explored the critical role of supplemental insurance in providing employees with care. The blend of professionalism and personal commitment in these stories highlighted the importance of comprehensive benefits in today’s work environment, adding a layer of authenticity and depth to these narratives.
The Creative Process
Looking back, the shoot with Life Specialty Ventures was not only a professional achievement but also a journey filled with creativity and collaboration. The camaraderie and laughter shared on set made the shoot a truly memorable experience. Each scene, each interaction, contributed to a final product that we are incredibly proud of.

REIMAGINING BIRTH AT MLK
Showcasing Excellence at MLK Community Healthcare
We were thrilled when our friends at Allied Global Marketing reached out to us for a special project: capturing the remarkable work being done at MLK Community Healthcare. Over the course of two days, our team had the privilege of documenting the newly redesigned maternity ward and the vital services provided by this outstanding facility.
A Behind-the-Scenes Look
From the moment we stepped through the doors of MLK Community Healthcare’s facilities, it was clear that this was more than just a hospital; it was a community dedicated to caring for mothers and their families. Our crew worked meticulously to stage lighting and set up interviews with doctors, midwives, and patients, each sharing their unique experiences and insights. The warmth and dedication of the community were evident in every conversation we captured.
In addition to the interviews, we filmed b-roll across multiple properties, ensuring we highlighted the full scope of the hospital's state-of-the-art facilities and compassionate care. Every shot was crafted to tell the story of MLK Community Healthcare’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of the Los Angeles community.
The Heart of Healthcare
The redesigned maternity ward at MLK Community Healthcare is a beacon of hope and excellence. Through our lenses, we aimed to showcase not just the physical transformation of the space but also the profound impact it has on the families it serves. The interviews and b-roll footage come together to paint a vivid picture of a place where medical innovation meets heartfelt care.
We are proud to support and share the incredible work being done at MLK Community Healthcare. Their dedication to serving the Los Angeles area is truly inspiring, and we are honored to have played a part in bringing their story to life.

A WILDCAT WELCOME
Masks and sanitizer aren’t the only new tools we’re using to navigate the times. The folks over at the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs at Northwestern University wanted to create a video series to help familiarize new students with their spaces, as part of their Wildcat Welcome for the incoming class.
In an effort to introduce the many services and programs MSA offers, we developed a video series that highlights the team’s role on campus, showcases each of their spaces - the Multicultural Center, the Black House, and the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center - as well as a land acknowledgment video and why it’s important to acknowledge the land we stand on.
Over the course of two shoot days, we roamed the campus exteriors to meet with eleven team members individually to capture a series we called, “Meet Us at MSA.” The cast and crew abided by strict safety and sanitization guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment, enforcing social distancing, and ensuring the fewest number of people were on set at all times.
WORKED IT! A LOOK BACK ON SEASON 3
That’s a wrap on Season 3 of “Work It” with Carrie Kerpen. We feel incredibly thankful to have been part of revamping this season. We sat in rooms with so many inspirational women making their mark in each of their respective industries. From authors and business owners to working moms, we helped to create a space where they could share their stories and hopefully bring some inspiration to people all over. We’ve come a long way from the start of the season!
This season, we traveled to LA, Chicago, and NYC to find and create spaces that capture and tell these stories in a new and engaging way. Dugud helped take this show outside the Likeable office and create a formula that lives out in the world. We designed the show intro and transitions to help stylize the show. Additionally, we offered beauty and wardrobe teams for Mrs. Kerpen and guests as well as set design to create interesting backdrops and elevate the show’s aesthetic.
Let’s take a peak at the powerful 15 women interviewed this season - women like Luvvie Ajayi, Kate Kimmerle, and Lourds Lane, just to name a few. These women shared wisdom on being enough just as you are, ways to feel your best, and speaking the truth always. Join us as we take a look back into season 3 and all of the hard work put in by the entire crew.
Below are individual teasers from each guest’s episode of Work It! Season 3.
JUST DO GOOD
The Dugud crew spent a week at Nike’s World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. We met with dozens of employees to help tell the story of why people should apply to Nike. The company has a culture of do-ers, hence their tagline “just do it.” As Dugud-ers, we carried this sentiment with us as we roamed the 286-acre campus with over 75 buildings, many named after athletes that made an impact in their sport as well as society. Check out the full videos below and get inspired.
A BLUEPRINT FOR BUDAPEST
After visiting their NYC offices, we rejoined the BlackRock financial team - this time at their technology hub in Budapest, Hungary. We traveled the city to interview the Head of BlackRock Budapest, Melanie Seymour, who talked to us about intellectual curiosity. She, along with several other employees like Gabor Karmo and Dasha Hargreave, discuss the ways BlackRock is reimagining and reshaping Hungary. One way is by bringing nationals back home with opportunity.
Our team scouted their brand new state-of-the-art facilities and produced the employee videos featured below. The videos are a recruitment tool for BlackRock to use as a way to bring young technologically savvy professionals back home to the country. The team sailed with Janos Csak, who shared with us how BlackRock’s orientation process helped him hone in on his craft to be the best possible employee. We even took the Budapest subway with Ferenc Nagy and went on his morning commute to see another side of Budapest.

BRINGING BOLD BACK
We’re helping bring back Season 3 of Carrie Kerpen’s Facebook Watch show Work It, in a bold way. Our co-founder and Creative Director, Zack McDowell, led the crew to sunny California to begin filming of the new season. The show already has two successful seasons under its belt, and now our partnership with Kerpen's company, Likeable, will take the show on the road for this next season. Carrie, author of the book the show’s named after, filled the room with successful leaders who offered amazing advice and good vibes only. The camera carried on as guests pulled us in with their motivating stories and secrets for success in business & life.
Some of this season’s guests include: Marisa Thalberg from Taco Bell, Shiza Shahid co-founder of The Malala Fund, Shannon Petranoff from Paramount, and many more powerhouse women. Each episode will feature interviews that share these women’s secrets to success in their respective careers, all from taking risks to managing life as a working parent.
Here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come in Season 3. Subscribe on Facebook Watch.
THE FUTURE OF WORK
Last summer, we had the pleasure of working on a series with The We Company (formerly WeWork). We first traveled to their headquarters in San Francisco to meet John Hjelmstad, the VP of Engineering. He sat with us to talk technology and how their company wants to help people “make a fife, not just a living,” through community & technological advances. Our crew traveled back to New York to visit one of WeWork’s many Manhattan offices. Several employees echoed the same sentiments as John, sharing their experiences with the company. Director of Culture Operations, Anita Shannon, emphasized the culture at WeWork and their commitment to empowering people to pursue entrepreneurship.
“Culture - the energy that surrounds us.”
One thing that really struck us was how Anita described what she considers culture - "the energy that surrounds us." Her main priority is to create a work environment that is proactive in evolving culture through diversity, support, and systematic happiness for the community at WeWork to flourish. Our team was happy to handle production and post-production for such an inspiring bunch of enterpreneurs.
We’ll help you work out your eyes with the series below. Let us know what you think in the comments.
