THE FUTURE OF WORK
Last summer, we had the pleasure of working on a series with The We Company (formerly WeWork). We first traveled to their headquarters in San Francisco to meet John Hjelmstad, the VP of Engineering. He sat with us to talk technology and how their company wants to help people “make a fife, not just a living,” through community & technological advances. Our crew traveled back to New York to visit one of WeWork’s many Manhattan offices. Several employees echoed the same sentiments as John, sharing their experiences with the company. Director of Culture Operations, Anita Shannon, emphasized the culture at WeWork and their commitment to empowering people to pursue entrepreneurship.
“Culture - the energy that surrounds us.”
One thing that really struck us was how Anita described what she considers culture - "the energy that surrounds us." Her main priority is to create a work environment that is proactive in evolving culture through diversity, support, and systematic happiness for the community at WeWork to flourish. Our team was happy to handle production and post-production for such an inspiring bunch of enterpreneurs.
We’ll help you work out your eyes with the series below. Let us know what you think in the comments.
NEW YEAR, NEW TRENDS
January is the longest month of the year and it feels that way too. We’re in the thick of winter in New York City. Folks are wrapped tightly in coats and scarves, but fashion never lacks. Macerich Shopping Centers partnered with us to roll out a social campaign for winter fashions, suitable for the elements. We tried to warm up winter by spending time in studio with Breanna, Chris and Maria before moving over to a brownstone with Shin, Maiko and Misty.
Once you’re finished with the January images, we'll hold your hand into February. Here’s why we admire the month of love.
BACK TO BLACKROCK
In May, we spent some time at BlackRock Financial’s NYC office where employees helped us break down myths about what it’s really like to work in finance. We heard inspiring stories from women who are changing the landscape (and face!) of finance. The greatest surprise was a video concept that was conceived on a shoot day. When a scheduling conflict took away talent, we decided to use a prior video for Caesars as inspiration and sat down with all three women from our “Making An Impact” video - where they discussed what it’s like to work in a male dominated field. THE HAPPIEST OF HOLIDAYS
We made the most of the holiday season by spending it with Macerich Shopping Centers. This year’s inspiration came from a clean BoHo-vibe for Macerich’s national social campaign. Over the course of 2 days, we created magic that only the holidays can bring. From creative, casting, sourcing, shooting, and editing - we did it all in a Brooklyn architectural warehouse and classic brownstone. Check out some of the holiday spirit:
UNLOCKING INSPIRATION
This week a beautiful partnership that combines the delight of art and love of travel came together. On Wednesday, we were tapped to capture a pop-up event for Marriott and LifeWtr at the bustling Oculus. For three days, they created an immersive experience using art from various LifeWtr collaborators. Attendees entered a striped-down, 2-D version of a Marriott hotel room. And just when they thought the experience was over - the room would transition into a colorful canvas of art. Using 17 different pieces of art, each attendee had a unique experience from the prior guest. One of the coolest uses of technology is that you don’t even have to be in New York to experience it. In 2019, while staying at any Marriott hotel, you too can transform your space into an art piece by scanning the QR code on LifeWtr bottles located inside the room. Here’s a sneak peek of what to expect:
DUGUD DOES DESIGN*SPONGE
This summer our founders, John & Zack McDowell, were approached by Design*Sponge for a home tour of their New York City apartment. As fans of the site and overall brand(s) Grace Bonney has created, Dugud jumped at the opportunity to capture images and a video to feature on the inspirational platform. Check out their home details in the teaser video we created then you can read the interview (with photos) here where they discuss style choices and how to make choices and design collaboratively when you have different approaches.

FEELING FALL
We’re moving through the season with Macerich Shopping Centers. Continuing our social series, we created a series of images to feature some of their favorite products of the season. Our favorite part of this project was being bale to shoot at this beautiful mid-century glass house in upstate New York.

MOONWALKING THE PINK CARPET
Last night, we walked the 2018 MTV VMAs pink carpet with Cox Communications’ Maria Esposito. Whether it was Queen Radio’s Nicki Minaj, Love & Hip Hop’s Amara La Negra or KUWTK’s Kylie Jenner, celebrities showed up and out to watch Jennifer Lopez receive the Video Vanguard award and see how many moonpeople Cardi B was going to rake up. We spoke with Lion Babe, Joshua Bassett, Audie Cornish, The Miz, Asian Doll, Jasmine Luv, Madison Beer and many more to capture the evening’s excitement and find out who was rooting for who.
We also got some great insight on connecting from the stars of MTV’s hit shows like Catfish, Pretty Little Mamas, and Wild N’ Out. It was a true New York City media moment as streets were barricaded, pedestrians looked on to see the stars and everyone struggled to find their taxi. For more on the night’s stargazing, check out our videos with Cox Communications here.
